Rumer Willis is imitating one of her mother Demi Moore’s most renowned roles.

In a recent picture, Willis, 36, donned the sparkling gold  bikini that Moore famously wore in the 1996 film Striptease. The famous string bikini will be auctioned on Saturday, April 5, at Studio Auctions, with bidding starting at $5,000.

Not only does Willis’ vintage style pay homage to Moore, but it also signifies a significant milestone for the former child actor. Willis co-starred with her mother as Moore’s onscreen daughter, Angela, in the film Striptease over 30 years ago.

In the film, Moore’s character, Erin, a former FBI secretary, works as an exotic dancer to earn enough money to hire a lawyer to help her win a custody dispute with her ex.  The Substance actress was 36 years old when the film was filmed, which is the same age as her daughter now.

Willis embraces the sultry style in her image, wearing a bikini with sky-high black stilettos and dark sunglasses. She chose a natural appearance over full glam, as she looks to be wearing minimal makeup and her blonde hair is down and split slightly to the side.

Moore’s appearance in Striptease was controversial when it initially came out because she appeared topless, but it has since become a cult classic.

In a September 2024 interview with Variety, she discussed acting in Striptease and G.I. Jane, in which she portrays a soldier, back-to-back, and how she understood that receiving criticism for both parts helped open the road for future actresses to explore similarly tough and surprising characters.

“If anything in this industry has ever been stacked against me, it was having those two films come out at the same time and becoming the highest-paid actress on top of that,” she remembered at the time. That moment was meaningful because it was about leveling the playing field for all women: not just me. But by playing a stripper, I betrayed women. And by playing a soldier, I betrayed mankind.”

She went on, “The narrative quickly became, ‘Well, she’s only getting paid that amount because she’s playing a stripper.’. It hit me quite hard. But, at the same time, I realized that whoever takes the initial move will bear the brunt of the consequences.”

Willis, an actor herself, has profited from her mother’s groundbreaking performances. In addition to her early performances in Striptease and Now and Then, she has appeared in other films and television shows, including Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, The House Bunny, and Empire.

Willis is also the mother of a girl, Louetta, who will be two in April.
