The father of a 10-year-old kid who was hurt by flying debris during a fatal plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia has disclosed his son’s first words after brain surgery

Andre “Trey” Howard III was injured on Friday, Jan. 31, when a medical transport plane crashed near the Roosevelt Mall, hurting at least 24 people and killing seven, including all six passengers and one person on the ground.
Metal struck Trey’s head, sending him to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for brain surgery. They advised the young boy’s family that there was a strong chance he might not survive.
But, surprisingly, he awoke and immediately inquired about two vital matters: his sister’s safety and the forthcoming Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
“He asked, ‘Daddy, what’s today?’” I said, ‘Monday.’ ‘Okay, wait. We did not play yesterday, did we? “No, you did not miss the Super Bowl,” Andre Howard Jr. told ABC News.
Trey then said, “Daddy, did I save my sister?”
“It had me crying,” Andre added.
“You told us to get down.” “I was just trying to help my sister, and the next thing I knew, I thought I died.” According to Andre, Trey mentioned this while in the hospital.
Trey and his younger brothers, aged 4 and 7, were driving with their father to get donuts when the accident occurred. “It sounded like a missile was firing bullets, metal at my car and everyone else’s car,” Andre said on ABC6. “You witness a burning automobile and a man walking on fire. It was just ridiculous.”
But, as debris flew everywhere, Trey instructed his sister, “‘Get down,’” Andre remembered. “He grabs her, and I hear the glass crack. When I turn back, I see a piece of metal protruding out of my son’s skull from the plane.”
Andre then attempted to stop the bleeding using a pair of old socks and another man’s shirt. The cops transported the youngster and his family to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
“They performed an excellent job with my youngster. “Praise God, they did an excellent job,” Andre remarked about his son’s operation.
Andre noted, “It’s bittersweet” because Trey saved his sister. “I’m glad he listened, but that’s my job, not his job, to protect his sister,” Andre explained.
After Trey awoke, one of his favorite NBA players, Tyrese Maxey of the 76ers, paid him a visit in the hospital. “He expresses thanks to everyone. He exclaims, ‘Daddy, I’m a celebrity!”No, you are more than a celebrity. “You’re a superhero,” Andre said.
Trey is now healing at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
The family started a GoFundMe page to fund Trey’s uninsured medical expenditures, as well as his rehabilitation and physical therapy.
